Crater Lake National Park invites public comment on an assessment of the environmental effects of a proposal to construct a new trail and parking area in the vicinity of Anderson Bluffs. The public comment period is April 26 through May 26, 2010.

The project involves building approximately 1 mile of new trail through level terrain and constructing a 2000 square foot parking area off the Pinnacles Road. Rest areas with benches and a viewing area at the base of the waterfall will be included.

We are looking to identify issues surround the two project alternatives 1) No Action and 2) Construct New Trail (Preferred Alternative).

The enviromental assessment is available to view on-line at the link below. Copies are also available for review at Crater Lake National Park and at public libraries in Klamath Falls and Medford, Oregon.

Please address comments, which must be postmarked by May 26, 2010, to: Superintendent, Crater Lake National Park, P.O. Box 7, Crater Lake, Oregon 97604. Please contact Trails Supervisor, Cheri Killam-Bomhard, at (541)594-3037 if you have any questions regarding this project. You may also e-mail us your comments.
