Favorite surviving in the wilderness movie

I just viewed "The Edge" (1997) starring Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin and Elle Mcpherson. It is by far, my favorite outdoor adventure film -- great actors, witty lines and scenic locations. It's worth viewing a second time just for the stalking bear scenes.

A peripherally related genre is seen in "Mohave Moon."
(Magnificently quirky movie. Nevada-esque stalking scenes.)

Not sure these count as survival...

But I enjoyed Grizzly Man and Into the Wild.

Didn't want to like Grizzly Man ... but the footage of the bears is just too good.

And the entire Everest series is amazing IMO. I'll keep it under 15K unless
I'm in an airplane.... thanks.

Chick-on LOVES the Greatest American Hero!
Chicky is just like him. No one is quite sure whether the dude can really fly or not.
Everyone (?) watches with baited breath (always wondered where da heck
that saying came from) for him to fly. And did he fly or not?
We're not sure.

Ok, here is a real survial one that is excellent:
"Touching the Void"

That show was my mother's all time favorite -- she would not miss an episode for any reason!

Everyone I know who has seen Grizzly Man had the same reaction: didn't wanna like it, but it was too good (the director is too awesome to not like; very very famous European director from the Klaus Kinski days) I liked Into the Wild, too, and even though I knew how it was going to end, it still really upset me for days afterwards.

A couple guilty pleasures: Whitewater Summer with Kevin Bacon and why not Tremors which is technically survival,

Shoot to Kill. Beliieve it or not Kirstie Ally is very believable as a wilderness guide in this thriller.

My favorite is the Edge and I was enthralled with Grizzly Man as well.
