what's yours?

i recently got into photography and love it! i plan on going to Yosemite a lot. i've been 10 times this year.. now that i have a camera, i plan on doing a lot of photos there.... anyhoo, just for fun, here is my short dream list that i'd love to have (but never will $$$$ lolol).

i'd love to zoom in on a bears eyeball. lol

sure would be fun to video the waterfalls and add music, burn it to a cd.

I usually prefer short focal lengths:

Eeek, what Fall in the top photo? First I thought Nevada, but the surroundings don't look right; then Vernal, but from where (?) and there's no sign of Liberty Cap behind. So I assume it's somewhere "else", but where? Great photo and angle though, especially with the snow.

As for the wish list, I'm happy to be lens-lust free...when I see the big-to-gigantic lenses and corresponding price tags, I mostly just feel sorry for the guy lugging it around 8^). I've found that the superzoom configuration fits my needs the best...the 28 or 35 to 400+mm models with full manual control do what I need, mostly without anything additional to carry when hiking or biking. Plus, when I am around a group that starts talking about which of the latest "L" glass models is the best, I can slip off and take photos, as I have no use for the lenses 8^).

I remember reading on here that eeek had visited Yellowstone. To me, it looks like the falls from the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I forget the actual name of the falls, but they are a sight to be seen.

It's Lower Yellowstone Falls.

Just a test. If this works, I'll find a couple of "real" photos to post.

Thanks eeek, no wonder I didn't recognize it, since I haven't been there. One of these days though...

I like both short and long focal length. I now shoot video, so I grabbed these shots from video clips.

Oblong, Giant, and Grand Geysers erupting simultaneously in Yellowstone:

South Kaibab Trail - Grand Canyon:

These were taken with a $400 camera, with a total setup weight of less than 2.5 lbs. I'd like to get a dSLR for indoor sports photography, but I'm not sure about the weight for hiking.
