I love snow plant. When I first visited Yosemite in 2005, I remembered being told they were fairly uncommon. So, whenever I saw one, I'd take a picture. A couple of years ago, when I was hiking with a friend, and pointing them out, he said, "Those things? They're a dime a dozen!"

Since learning of them, I've "collected" different mycotrophic plants. One of my favorites was a collection of Pine Drops we stumbled across in Russian Gulch in July a couple of years ago. It was such a surprise to see them.

But I still get excited when I see a snow plant in the Sierras. So bright and vibrant!

There's even a couple of orchids.

This is one we found while watching bears in the Crane Flat Bear Viewing Area. Right by the side of the road, at the base of a sign post.
