Grand Canyon, Ariz. - The body of a man discovered near Tanner Beach in Grand Canyon National Park on Sunday, August 28, has been identified as that of 52-year old Stephen Norman O'Keeffe from Flagstaff, AZ.

The cause of death has been ruled by the Coconino County Medical Examiner as hyperthermia and dehydration due to environmental exposure.

On Sunday morning, August 28, Grand Canyon National Park rangers initiated an aerial search after receiving a report of a hiker possibly in distress on the Tanner Trail. Shortly after initiating the search, the helicopter's crew reported spotting a body in a wash just above Tanner Beach. A recovery effort was conducted and the body transported to the South Rim by helicopter where it was transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
