Makes monetary sense too. You can buy those products in bulk and they'll never go bad. They last forever.

Not really. They've got a sell by date that's about three weeks from the date of manufacture. The only preservative in a Twinkie is sorbic acid. They don't have BHT or other more potent preservatives.

Even if it could keep stuff from growing, they'll dry out long before they suffer from spoilage. The packaging is hardly an airtight seal. They won't even bother to make the packaging airtight given the typical life span of a Twinkie is less than three weeks.
