Public Meetings Scheduled for Yosemite National Park&#8217;s Revised Merced River Plan/SEIS

The National Park Service in Yosemite will conduct a series of public meetings during the scoping period for the Merced Wild and Scenic River Revised Comprehensive Management Plan and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (Revised Merced River Plan/SEIS).

The specific purpose of the Revised Merced River Plan/SEIS is to (1) address user capacities in the Merced River corridor, and (2) reassess the river boundary in El Portal based on an evaluation of Outstandingly Remarkable Values in this segment. The revised plan will also amend the park&#8217;s 1980 General Management Plan.

During the scoping period, a total of three public meetings will be held in El Portal, Mariposa, and Oakland. Participants will have the opportunity to talk with park staff, provide individual verbal testimony with a court reporter, participate in a public hearing (also with court reporter), and submit written ideas and concerns.

The schedules of meetings are as follows:

Oakland City Hall Frank Ogawa Plaza (Broadway & Clay Streets) Hearing Room #1 August 16
4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
4:00-5:30 p.m. Open House (court reporter available)
5:30-6:00 p.m. Project Presentation
6:00-8:00 p.m. Public Hearing

El Portal Elementary School Rancheria Flat Road Multi-purpose Room August 17
5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
5:00-6:30 p.m. Open House (court reporter available)
6:30-7:00 p.m. Project Presentation
7:00-9:00 p.m. Public Hearing

Mariposa County Government Center 5100 Bullion Street Board of Supervisors&#8217; Chambers August 19
4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
4:00-5:30 p.m. Open House (court reporter available)
5:30-6:00 p.m. Project Presentation
6:00-8:00 p.m. Public Hearing

Additionally, written comments on the scope of this project will be accepted at the next National Park Service Open House, to be held August 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center&#8217;s East Auditorium, located in Yosemite Village. (Tell the ranger at the entrance station that you are attending this public meeting, and your entrance fee will be waived.)
