Starting point was at Crane Flat Gate and the ending location was Siesta Lake. The average snow depth was 12 inches.

Total road mileage plowed was 12.7 miles.


Glacier Point Road starting point was Badger Pass and the ending location was 1 mile from Badger. The average snow depth was 3.25 feet.

Total road mileage plowed was 1 mile.</HTML>

April 16, 2002:

The starting point was Siesta Lake, and the ending location was White Wolf. The total distance plowed was 1.2 miles. The average snow depth was 2 feet. There were numerous equipment breakdowns, which slowed operations and the distance plowed.

Glacier Point Road starting point was 1 mile from Badger Pass, and the ending location was 2.4 miles from Badger. The average snow depth was 4 feet. Total road mileage plowed was 1.4 miles.

Tioga Road

Stating location: White Wolf (13.8 miles from Crane Flat Gate)
Ending location: Exfoliating Granite (17.9 miles from Crane Flat Gate)
Total Distance snow removed: 4.1 miles Average snow depth: 5 feet

The storm of last night brought a foot of new snow. The increasing depth is due to elevation and this section of roadway is not exposed to the sun. South Fork has been declared an Avalanche Zone due to the new unstable snow.


Glacier Point Road

Starting location: 2.4 miles from Badger Pass
Ending location: Ostrander parking lot--4.2 miles from Badger Pass
Average snow depth is 3'
Total distance snow removed today: 1.8 miles

Plowing is expected to make it to Olmsted Point (the view of Tenaya Lake) sometime today.

No progress on the Tioga road. The crew is busy preparing to penetrate the avalanche zone near Olmsted point.

The Glacier Point crew has reached the end of the road. There is more work to be done and no opening date has been set.

Tioga Road Progress:

One lane has been cut through Olmsted Point. The snow depth at the toe is approximately nine feet. Snow removal east of Olmsted will continue if the avalanche zone is stable, within the next couple days.

Segment 1 (Crane Flat gate to Walker Party exhibit) will open with restricted hours and access.

One lane has been cut through Murphy Creek, 30.6 miles from Crane Flat. Average snow depth is 3 feet.

Tioga Road Progress Report for May 1, 2002

The plows successfully broke through the Spring Hill avalanche zone. They had to stop at the Marmot Dome avalanche zone. Hopefully, they will cut through this zone sometime this morning.

Starting location: Spring Hill avalanche zone.

Ending location: Marmot Dome avalanche zone.

Total distance plowed: 4.6 miles.
Average snow depth: 3 feet.
