The pics are great; thank you for sharing (these photo albums are so sophisticated) I had no idea that THIS much snow had accumulated in the Valley, or how low the snow was sticking (I saw that Groveland was only 2000+- in elevation) I am sure that after tonight, these amounts could have doubled (measurements are in feet instead of inches!)

You're pretty fast; I was there the 11-13 and still haven't finished processing the pix...but then I was a little tired of looking at snow, so reluctant to jump right in 8^)

It's amazing to me how quickly the snow in the valley melts, at least on the surrounding mountains. When I was leaving on Friday morning, the roads you show as packed with snow were still bare (but that was quickly changing). But I think there was as much or more snow on the mountains around the valley.

Lee Vining sure did.

As we speak...err...type, the webcam shows the Ahwahnee meadow getting pounded; nice to see, but it's a bit gray and dark now.

140 is nice but for those of us who use chains, it's sometimes extra work. The pass at Midpines often gets snowed over, so you need to put the chains on, then take them off at the bottom of the hill (or drive for too-many miles on bare pavement along the river). Then you usually have to put them back on as you get in to the valley. Sometimes 41 is almost easier....you put them on and leave them on, sometimes nearly to Oakhurst.

You watched the upside down house show.

I'll upload excerpts for you onto youtube, Huell hasn't complained about excerpts yet

Lee Vining and the 395 corridor are fascinating, I work it all the time as you know.

I would caution anyone about to watch one of the Huell Howser clips to adequately steel themselves mentally. (You'll find out what I mean.)

Some time ago, I read in one of the online Yosemite library books (it was either the one that deals with the history of the Tioga Road or one that discusses the Eastern Sierra mines) that Good Ol' Leroy accidentally killed himself in an Aurora, NV saloon - shot himself with his own gun.

Some weekend when I have nothing to do, or am trying to to avoid doing useful work, I need to access the reference in that book and see if it provides any details on how he managed to accomplish that feat.

A regulah Ansel Adams with that Black and White rendition! Isnt it amazing how solomn and moody B&W casts a pic? I have many de-saturated pix in my collection.

Where were you when you shot this pic (the mountain panarama)? Also, what size lens were you using? (if zoom, a guess would do)

No matter what the color -- the composition is very very impressive

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

huh?

It looks like you took it from around Sentinel Beach Picnic Area.
(you can't see Yosemite Falls from near Bridalveil)

Forrestranger:>> i use a Nikon D40 with a 55-200 lens.<<

thanks. I did not see any of the bending on the edges common with wide angle lens, so I was guessing that it had to be bigger than a 28-38.
