A six-year-old boy hiking with his family was attacked and dragged by a mountain lion this past Sunday on a trail in the Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve in the hills behind Cupertino, CA. His parents and others were able to retrieve the child from the mountain lion and the boy is currently being treated in a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries including cuts and lacerations to his neck. As of this morning, the mountain lion hasn't yet been found.
The Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve and the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve are closed to the public until further notice.
