- If you open the picture in Picasaweb and select the address shown under "Link" (in the "Link to this Photo" section of the right-hand panel), you'll get an address that looks like this: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/WvwAoeWWKOPHYZ5w_QL1RdMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink. As you can see, that will work as a link to the picture but it will not work to insert the image inline with your post.
- Similarly, if you go in to the new Google Photos service, open the photo you want to share and click on the share icon (the one that looks a bit like PacMan's mouth) and then click "Get Link," you'll get a link that looks like this: https://goo.gl/photos/JqugXzx2kdN543ce6. Again, this won't get your image inserted here.
- The problem is that the img function here expects a link to an actual photo (e.g., something ending in ".jpg" or the like).
- There are probably multiple ways around this, but what I found is if you open the picture in Picasaweb, right-click on the picture and select "Copy image address," that should give you a link that you can use with the "img" button here (the one in the middle of the tool bar with the picture of a mountain).
- That's for a Windows desktop environment. I don't know what the Apple equivalent of right-clicking is (or how you do it from your phone) but I'm sure somebody else will jump in and clarify that. Like I said, the trick is to make sure you've got an address that ends with a picture extension (.jpg, .gif, probably several others supported here).
You may also have to make sure that the Picasa album that holds the picture is shared but I haven't experimented with that yet.
