DEATH VALLEY, CA – After several months of closure due to storm damage, the Mesquite Springs Campground in Death Valley National Park has again opened for public use. The access road was damaged due to flooding in July 2018. As repair work was being completed a strange “microburst” storm with strong winds on September 11th, 2017 tore part of the roof off of a restroom. All sites and facilities are now open at the campground. Mesquite Springs Campground is noteworthy in that if affords the best night sky viewing of all the developed campgrounds in Death Valley and is often used by local astronomy clubs.
