Re: Whatever happened to these regulars?

It has been quite a few years since I was last here. Back then, the adventures of Chick-on, JustKeepWalking, and Basilbop were a great source of inspiration. But now I can't find any recent posts from any of them. No "goodbye" announcements, they seem to have just softly and suddenly vanished away. Does anyone know anything they can share? They announced at some point (2017 or 2018, I think) that apart from the time involved in preparing trip reports, they got tired of running into people who were less considerate and cared less about the park than they do, so they stopped posting TRs so that they wouldn't encourage those kinds of people to check out the trio's favorite hidden-away spots (my wording, if you find the post Basilbop's wording may actually differ a bit, but that was the gist of it).

Not living in close proximity to YNP and therefore enjoying YNP vicariously via those TRs, I too miss the TRs, but having seen what goes on in some of the FB groups, it's hard to fault their decision.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand how they feel - I have held off recommending some of my favorite places for the same reasons.

The problem is even worse in the birding world - "collectors" lurk on legitimate forums to get locations of rare birds so they can go and steal their eggs or even shoot the adults. Same problem with some photographers, who harass birds for the sake of the perfect shot for Instagram.
