<HTML>The area between the amphitheater and the road is being marked as a wildland urban interface (WUI) thinning demonstration area. A WUI area is defined as buildings intermingled with forest fuels that may be at risk from a nearby wildland fire. This area will be used for field trips during public meetings in mid and late July. The blue flagging shows which small trees would be removed under the current prescription used by Fire Management. The pink flagging shows which trees would be removed under the action alternatives in the draft Environmental Impact Statement for Yosemite's new Fire Management Plan. If you have questions or want more information about this area or other issues related to the draft plan please contact, Kara Paintner, kara_paintner@nps.gov, 379-1115.</HTML>
