Two people were dead and seven injured after a gusty electrical storm pounded California with thunderstorms and lightning, igniting dozens of small wilderness fires.

SACRAMENTO—Northern California was bracing for a second wave of thunderstorms after a slow-moving system produced a series of lightning strikes that touched off spot fires and sent a woman to the hospital.

An all-night light show with hundreds of lightning strikes from the Pacific Coast to the Sierra Nevada kept folks awake and knocked out power to thousands as thunderstorms rumbled through Northern California.

I will attest to the fact that this indeed was a wild storm; there was a lightening strike in the yard behind mine and the sound of thunder and blinding light made it seem like we were being bombed (it was THAT loud)
