Wed Jan 27, 2010 10:49am EST
BEIJING (Reuters) - A proposal to jail people who eat dog meat for up 15 days has caused controversy in China, where dog hot pot is traditionally popular.
The first draft of a law against animal abuse, aiming to protect animals from being hurt or killed in a cruel manner, has been completed by a group of experts and will be raised for legislation this April, local media reported.

There are several neighborhoods down in Orange County, CA where there is a definite dearth of dogs.
(Except for white-furred ones... white being associated with death in some cultures.)

I was told by a Vietnamese friend that b/c of a case in Long Beach,
CA had to make a law to help out da dawgs.

Pretty sure the gist of it was that someone was going to the Human
Society / Animal Shelter and picking one for din din.... multiple times.

Too busy to say much more. Feel free to google.
