Zion National Park is seeking public input on the National Park Service’s proposed plan to upgrade an irrigation system and diversion structure within Zion National Park, Utah. The
existing system delivers irrigation through an open ditch to Watchman Campground, South Campground, and the Zion Canyon Visitor Center.

The proposed project would replace the open ditch irrigation system with a pressurized pipeline system. Operation of the existing irrigation system is problematic and requires significant
maintenance and upkeep. Using pipes and a pressurized system will improve irrigation efficiency, increase the areas irrigated with non-culinary water, and decrease the required maintenance on open ditch systems.

The park encourages the public to participate throughout the planning process. The park is currently in the scoping phase of this process, and invites the public to submit written suggestions, comments, and concerns regarding this proposed project online at the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/.
