How to Name a Mountain After Ronald Reagan
By Molly Ball

Feb 8 2013, 2:26 PM ET15

If this activist gets his way, there will be a Mount Reagan in Nevada, possibly as soon as next year. But it hasn't been easy.

I thought Conservatives stopped their worship of Reagan a long time ago?

He already has a mountain named after him. It's an aircraft carrier.

They've been talking for a good 20 years about adding Reagan to Mt. Rushmore too. Here's a comparatively recent news story: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ronald-reagan-centennial-presidents-likeness-live/story?id=12853508

I think it was about 8 or 10 years ago that the Onion (I think it was) ran a picture of how the "back side" of Mt. Rushmore (if there's any such spot) could be sculpted with likenesses of the country's worst presidents. I think most of the likenesses were made up and only looked like they could have been past presidents, but I did recognize the then-incumbent among them.

Edited to add: I'm not finding the earlier Onion story but it seems as though Mt. Rushmore is one of their favorite subjects: http://www.theonion.com/articles/report-94-of-south-dakotans-unprepared-for-mt-rush,9982/

I wouldn't have a problem having a mountain in California, preferably in Santa Barbara County near his former ranch, being named after Reagan. But having a mountain in Nevada named after him is plain stupid.

There definitely needs to be a Mount Chick-on somewhere.

Ur funny. I'm not all that. Besides, you can consider that there sorta already is
(haven't been up there... but had aspirations a couple of times... twice actually... maybe this year)

Have fun

Be the first to tragically die on an unnamed mountain. Or grease some palms.
