As California finally experiences the arrival of a rain-bearing Pineapple Express this week, two climate scientists have shown that the drought of 2012-2014 has been the worst in 1,200 years.

My neighbor growing up in Hawaii coined the term "Pineapple Express":

1-3-97, KUSI Morning News--Wilbur Shigehara, National Weather Service,
retires today at 55. (...) Coined the term Pineapple Express and Yukon
Express.

It could rain everyday for the next year, and it still wouldn't make much of a dent.
