The Badger Pass Road will close for the season on Sunday April 5, 2009 at 6 p.m. Snow removal operations on the Glacier Point Road will begin on Monday, April 6. The road gate will be closed and locked at Chinquapin. Essential administrative traffic will be allowed between Chinquapin and Badger Pass. Any need to travel east of Badger Pass on the Glacier Point Road must be approved by the on-duty roads supervisor.

Bummer....sort of; its almost that time to hang up the skis and take down the back pack (and see if anything has moved into it during the Winter!)

To date: Does anyone have the figures on the amount of snowpack this winter compared to average years in the Sierra in general and in Yosemite in particular? More? Less? About the same?

Thanks.

It's running about 90% of average. Not a bad year but about 110% was needed to get the reservoirs up to snuff.
