I would not have guessed that degree of correlation. My recent use of GPS does not support that "study" . Anecdotally, I recall a sign to Glen Aulin near the TW visitor center that gives X miles and another sign, across the meadow, after travelling some distance toward Glen Aulin that lists X.3 miles (the closer to Glen Aulin, the greater the distance!).

The cure for a fallacious argument is a better argument, not the suppression of ideas.
