Very nice photos. I'm headed up tomorrow for a while; it's hard to believe that lower Yosemite fall and fall color are happening at the same time...that's a rarity.

i remember someone here on this site had the ability to see what the camera settings were by doing something to the posted photos, i can't remember who it was, or how they did it. if that person is still here, i'd love for them to post how it's done.

I guess there is more than one way to read the metatags from files... Read this for details on Exif data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format

But essentially one can open in adobe photoshop or similar and read the info- or you can use a perl excutable like Exiftool, or they may be even simpler ways to read it straight from your OS...

I have not had the chance but I would love to take my camera and do some HDR photos of Yosemite. Anyone done this yet? Anything they could post as well? HDR, is basically a number of different spaced out exposures combined into one image- thus giving you really amazing color and surealism. Google it...

I believe GIMP is actually UNIX based and then ported to Windows and OSX.

Now you're scaring me. The last time had anything to do with GIMP it was while trying to get a very large format printer to work for a friend. I had headaches for days. Nearly did me in. Did not have a good outcome. Must think of a peaceful place now.

That is absolutely stunning! If I could stop putting my wife's digital camera right up my eyes, maybe I could begin to think of getting
a new camera for my self ( I keep banging the camera on my nose trying to find the viewfinder window my SLR has).
I had heard there was a lot of embedded detail in digital fotos, I thought it was just unused detail for enlarging the pics.
The mind is easily boggled.

Frank and Forrestranger, you can read the EXIF data from online photos using a free tool; no need to download the photo. Opanda iEXIF is the name, just get the free version, and you just right-click the photo in IE or probably Firefox, and have the option to read the EXIF. Don't have the link handy but Google will find it.

(I thought you meant the technical aspects of the slow-shutter silky falls effect, but didn't get a chance to answer before leaving. The silky effect is nice at times, and made the falls look bigger...they're somewhat wispy now, but still a lot of water. I could (and did) walk right to the pool at the base of lower fall. Yesterday that was great, today it wouldn't have been so great...it's COLD here)

Incidentally, you can eliminate the EXIF from a photo pretty easily also; use Photoshop's save for web, or probably a similar 'save' in Elements (I see you have PSCS4, so it's easy).

I'll post a photo tomorrow maybe...camera's in the car...and if you get the Opanda, you can tell me what camera I used 8^).
