You do have to tell us the location.

My guess - Yosemite overlook (east of the top of Yosemite Falls)

This should be easy for you experts...

Got turned back as we headed north due to really hard,. dense snow conditions and no crampons. Oops.
Pounding head on desk

PS: OK, let me edit this again. Mods, feel free to move. Wasn't trying to hijack the thread: thought it was a "guess where I am" sort of thing. Figured if I can invade the chick-on's backyard, he might be tempted to cruise the East-side...

Chick-on,
We were originally planning on following the ridge all the way to Tuolumne, a traverse I've wanted to do for a year. But snow conditions on the north side were HARD and slick, and neither of us had bothered to bring crampons. Poop. Well, you live, you learn. I'll be back there next summer for another shot. Besides, that road out to 120 is LONG at the end of the day!

Here's another view for when I was mucking around in October, 2008:

That's what I thought. I send you a gallery of pictures of that trip. It rained for about 14 hours that trip... I had to sleep
on someones shoes to stay out of the rain and keep my plush fur fine and dandy. I wanna go back below and check out
that very interesting white sand/granite/smooth white area west of Hoffman. It shows up distinctly on the Satellite.
Very curious it's makeup and why it is what it is. Been years since been up Hoff... need to do that again too...

Peace

eeekie, why you no list "Sierra Point" as your Favorite Secret Place?
Other question... why nothing at all listed there?

I found the trail incredibly simple to find and equally easy to follow.
I no spring chick-on though.

I thought the old guy was talking about El Capitan.

But, hey, thanks for all the great guesses on "Bird with a View"

It's even easier than that actually. Go to the "Rock Piles" sign... turn left. Look for ducks.
Look for arrow on tree after working your way thru boulder field E-SE direction.

For anyone who has had trouble following this thread, the access to the Sierra Point trail has been revealed. Watch for r-snakes among the rocks.
