...WINTER WEATHER RETURNING TO THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR
FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH THE WEEKEND...

THE FIRST WINTER STORM SYSTEM IN OVER A WEEK IS PROJECTED TO MOVE
ACROSS THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND
SATURDAY...BRINGING RAIN AND HIGHER ELEVATION SNOW TO THE AREA. THE
SNOW LEVEL IS EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN 5500 TO 6000 FEET OVER THE
SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA AND TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND
SATURDAY MORNING LOWERING TO AROUND 5000 FEET BY THE TIME THE
PRECIPITATION TAPERS OFF SATURDAY EVENING. AT THIS
TIME...ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES
ABOVE 6000 FEET FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.

THIS SYSTEM WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A SECOND STORM ON SUNDAY AND
SUNDAY NIGHT WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING A PERIOD OF HEAVIER
SNOWFALL OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA
AND TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS. HOWEVER...THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY
WITH THE EXACT TRACK AND STRENGTH OF THIS STORM.

THE NEXT IN A SERIES OF PACIFIC STORMS IS FORECAST TO REACH THE
CENTRAL CALIFORNIA INTERIOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS IS FORECAST TO
BE A COLD STORM...WITH THE SNOW LEVEL LOWERING TO AROUND 4000 FEET
NEAR YOSEMITE AND TO AROUND 4500 FEET IN THE TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS
BY MONDAY MORNING.

TOTAL NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 9 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN
THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA ABOVE 5000 FEET BY MONDAY
MORNING...WITH 3 TO 6 INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE TEHACHAPI MOUNTAINS.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT AN INCH OR TWO OF SNOW COULD FALL ON THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE TEHACHAPI AND TEJON PASSES LATE SUNDAY
NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING. THIS COULD IMPACT TRAVEL ON INTERSTATE
5 AND HIGHWAY 58 BETWEEN THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AND THE SOUTHLAND.
