4 PM PST WEDNESDAY ABOVE 6000 FEET...
THE WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 6000 FEET IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM
6 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM PST WEDNESDAY.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: TOTAL SNOWFALL OF ONE TO TWO FEET IS LIKELY
FROM YOSEMITE TO SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARKS.
* ELEVATION: SNOW LEVELS LOWERING TO 5000 FEET OVERNIGHT...WITH
THE HEAVIEST SNOW EXPECTED ABOVE 6000 FEET.
* TIMING: THE SNOW WILL BEGIN THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF TO SHOWERS WEDNESDAY
EVENING WITH LITTLE ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS.
* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: LODGEPOLE...GIANT FOREST...SHAVER LAKE...
HUNTINGTON LAKE...TUOLUMNE MEADOWS...BADGER PASS...SIERRA
SUMMIT.
* WINDS: GUSTY WINDS OVER 50 MPH ARE LIKELY OVER AND NEAR THE
CREST. THESE WINDS WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WITH
LIMITED VISIBILITIES. ELSEWHERE WINDS SHOULD BE BELOW 25 MPH.
* IMPACTS: TRAVEL INTO THE SOUTHERN SIERRA WILL BE SEVERELY HAMPERED
WHERE HEAVY SNOW OCCURS...ESPECIALLY ON ROADS THAT EXCEED 6000
FEET.
