MONDAY ABOVE 5000 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING ABOVE 5000 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS...WHICH IS
IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SUNDAY TO 5 PM PDT MONDAY FOR THE SOUTHERN
SIERRA NEVADA FROM YOSEMITE TO KINGS CANYON. THE WINTER STORM
WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: ONE TO TWO FEET OF SNOW IS LIKELY.

* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN NEAR YOSEMITE BY LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON
AND SPREAD SOUTHWARD THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. HEAVIEST SNOW
WILL OCCUR DURING THE OVERNIGHT AND MORNING HOURS...BECOMING
MORE SHOWERY IN THE AFTERNOON.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: TUOLUMNE MEADOWS AND MARIPOSA GROVE IN
YOSEMITE PARK...SIERRA SUMMIT...HUNTINGTON LAKE...WISHON...HUME
LAKE.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 30 TO 50 MPH WITH GUSTS TO NEAR 70 MPH OVER THE
CREST WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

* IMPACTS: HEAVY SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES ALONG HIGHWAY
41 INTO THE SOUTH ENTRANCE OF YOSEMITE PARK...HIGHWAY 168 INTO
SHAVER LAKE AND HUNTINGTON LAKE...AND HIGHWAY 180 INTO GRANT
GROVE AND HUME LAKE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

The llamas don't care, they're water proof. It's me. I can drive in the snow, but I really don't like to. The Valley floor is 4000ft and the snow is starting at 5000ft. Maybe I'll be alright. At work I drive a heavy duty Ford F250 with 4wd, but the stupid thing still has no traction.

Weight only if I'm carrying a palette of maps or newspapers. Tomorrow should be an all computer day... I hope.

Llamas can go anywhere. I can get them in places a horse can't go.

It may have started at 5000 feet but it went below 4000.

It was snowing pretty good in the Valley, and all the way down to Arch Rock, around 4:30pm.
