ABOVE 6000 FEET...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HANFORD HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING ABOVE 6000 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS...WHICH IS
IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 10 PM PDT TUESDAY FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS
OF THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER
IN EFFECT.
* SNOW LEVELS: STARTING OUT NEAR 7000 FEET EARLY TUESDAY
LOWERING TO 4000 TO 5000 FEET TUESDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 12 TO 20 INCHES OF NEW SNOW IS LIKELY BY
LATE TUESDAY EVENING. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 TO 6 INCHES
ARE POSSIBLE LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY...BUT THESE
ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE MORE SPOTTY IN NATURE.
* TIMING: A DEVELOPING WINTER STORM WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL
CALIFORNIA TUESDAY MORNING AND LINGER INTO WEDNESDAY. THE
HEAVIEST SNOW IS LIKELY FROM TUESDAY MORNING INTO TUESDAY
EVENING...THEN DIMINISHING TO SNOW SHOWERS LATER TUESDAY
NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: TUOLUMNE MEADOWS...BADGER PASS...SIERRA
SUMMIT...HUNTINGTON LAKE...WISHON...LODGEPOLE...CAMP NELSON.
* WINDS: GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH ALONG AND NEAR
THE CREST WILL CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.
* IMPACTS: IF YOU LIVE OR WORK AT OR ABOVE 5000 FEET YOU MAY
ENCOUNTER TRAVEL PROBLEMS INCLUDING ROAD CLOSURES.
