Nearly 100% snow coverage above Cascade Creek (including the bridge).
Camped at the top of Ribbon. Purty cool.

Great work!! Touching a bit of history! I had almost forgotten about that program which seems to suggest that the marker is part of the 1864 survey. Amazing!
Those interested in this particular marker, check out 6 min 40sec on the Yosemite Nature Notes show.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Thinking the marker was about the size of a "yield" sign, I thought that the Chick had grown quite a bit.

There are a total of two of these markers right in this particular spot
and also a bench marker. It took a trivial amount of time (< 1 minute) to find
the marker. I almost missed the second one though. If you go try to find it
the markers are facing each other. I'll have to go look for the South ones now.

I took this for Old Dude and Bee. (me no worry bout bears with dingle ball)

Ribbon Creek was very cool. Bunch of cascadey pools. Wasn't expecting that.
Lemme know if u wanna see peecture.

Thanx. Awesome picts! I feel bad not having gone this time around but not guilty as I was able to get multiplication and division of Mixed Fractions more or less nailed this weekend. Let's see what else the fifth grade has in store for this Burro...

I should have known the Goat wanted to do Ribbon, I recall him mentioning it. smiling smiley

Chick-on need a pair of mini spurs too so he can get the Goat trotting when needed.

Could you see Turlock/Patterson from there?

Speaking of goats, this weekend in Maine my wife and I climbed Bald Mountain near Camden, ME. The trail goes from 450' elevation to 1,200' (yes I know--really challenging). Anyway, near the summit we met a middle aged dude accompanied by two very frisky and curious goats complete with little saddlebags. Apparently he takes them whenever he goes hiking and they obviously enjoy it. Yep, there were goat droppings on the trail!

Maybe it is time for Chick-on to break out on his own? With his unique leadership skills, Chick-on could start a Goat Pack service delivering Twinkies to the 5 High Sierra Camps. Meanwhile, Billy could observate from Turlock......

You could not see Half Dome... therefore... you can't see Turlock.
You could however see the tippy top of HD from 7700 ft. locale. (see pixs)
Major clouds to the west obscurred the Silo. Sorry.

See Chick-on's previous post (re: limited view) Perhaps that "Dome obscured by clouds" was really Billy's head? (most likely)
