Bishop, CA (June 18, 2010)...The Pacific Southwest Recreation Resource Advisory Committee (RRAC) will hold a meeting in Mammoth Lakes on June 23 and 24. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a field trip to view recreation fee sites on the Inyo National Forest and to make recommendations for fee proposals on the Inyo, Modoc, Plumas, Sequoia and Stanislaus National Forests and the San Joaquin River Gorge Management Area and Dumont Dunes on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands.

The RRAC is a citizen's Federal Advisory Committee that provides recommendations on creating new or changing existing recreation fees managed by the Forest Service and BLM in California. The RRAC is comprised of 11 members as authorized under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, which was signed into law in 2004. Recommendations from the RRAC are combined with other public notification and communication efforts to help the Forest Service and BLM make sound decisions regarding recreation fees.

The meeting on June 23 will be held in various sites on the Inyo National Forest and will take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The meeting on June 24 will take place from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in the conference room of the Sierra Nevada Lodge, 164 Old Mammoth Road. The full agenda for both days, as well as information on proposals that the committee will be addressing, is located on the Forest Service Pacific Southwest website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/passes/rrac/meetings/.

The meeting is open to the public. Members of the public wishing to participate in the June 23 field trip will need to provide their own transportation. Persons who wish to bring recreation fee matters to the attention of the Committee may file written statements with the Committee staff before or after the meeting. A public input session will be provided during the meeting and individuals who wish to address the Committee will have that opportunity at 9:30 am on June 24. Comments will be limited to three minutes per person.
