Let's cross our fingers that the fires are kept under control. Things didn't go so well last summer...

Temperatures and forecast plus much more will be taken into account before the before a match is struck. BTW even though the Big Meadow Fire was a prescribed fire that did get away, It did what a natural lightning fire would have done. To understand why fire is a necessary element of the Yosemite ecosystem and how it's being used check out "Best Intentions," a 26 minute video at: http://www.nps.gov/yose/photosmultimedia/best-intentions.htm

Thank you RangerBob for the insight. I think that some of us get into the Amusement Park mentality and forget that Yosemite is part of a dynamic, living ecosystem that may not always offer perfect views & trail conditions during our vacation stay.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.
