April 7th Snow Fall
April 17, 2011 08:05AM
I took this picture after about 6 inches of snow fall on April 7th.
I believe this was near the lower Yosemite Falls.
It is one of my favorite photos. Just wanted to share.

Nice. Purty sure that is the bridge to Galen Clark Bench (to which it looks
like you just went to or are going to) (you're looking east).
I think that bridge is also one of the best spots to see the Frazil Ice.

Here's the view from Galen Clark Bench:

It was extronomically beautiful when we wuz der in March.
wink

On the 8th it was mostly gone, on the 10th it was totally gone....

Define totally gone. wink

Here's the same "Galen Clark Bench" area on the 10th of April:

Note how the creek has become an ice jam. (think Frazil Ice)
(compare the log on the left for one... )
Unfortunately we couldn't wait around all day for it to loosen up.

The Galen one above was March 20th. First day of spring.

If you're good, you can post the video under this subject heading:
Frazil Ice from Patterson, CA., 90 miles away

These are amazing pictures. I would love to see a time lapse sometime. Amazing how it changes so quickly.

I always find it interesting how people fawn over valley photos but when I put something
in the backcountry up... uh... not so much.
Anyway, I digress.

That big ol ball in the sky does wonders. Look at the Mist Trail from Vernal after 3 full days of nice weather:
