Ok.. folks,,,,No one seems to know when the Tioga Road will open...SO.... Rules for the opening date of the Tioga Road Opening Contest:: Winner will be the one one who get date correct (or close to the date)
First Prize: TBA
Second Prize: an atta boy or girl certificate

My guess is 29 June 11

Well, my first guess is gone, so I say July 2nd.

June 30th - 3pm (partial opening to Yosemite Creek June 17th - 12pm)

And I take it this is for the complete opening, not a partial opening?

I had previously guessed July 1 on another forum. I'm sticking with that.

7/2 ... at around 9 in the morning ... (that does NOT include fries being ready at the grill though ... hahaha)

anyhow, if I'm right, ...

please submit:

a week's complimentary stay at the Ahwahnee;
passes for 4 to Half Dome;
2 complimentary lunches at the TM grill;
One free fill-up at the Crane Flat gas station; (inc one large coffee to go)
a raft-for-two pass on the Merced with the outfitter of my choice;

and, ... aw what the heck .. just toss in a horse ride for the halibut ...

As of yesterday (May 25th) they are at Olmsted point and 3 1/2 miles west of Tioga Pass. I guess places like Tuolumne Meadows are fairly easy to plow?

I guess maybe 1 mile a day to plow and in 2 weeks, there will be less snow to plow.

18 June...using a variety of factors for my unedumacated reasoning...

(My first prediction a few months ago was 11 June...)

If they are 3.5 miles west of Tioga Pass and close to Olmsted Point, that is about 15 miles (just a guess) ? How many feet can they plow a day? Of course, they have other things to do besides just plowing. Is half a mile reasonable?

not to mention the rapture ...

which was a big letdown ... we're all still here ... inc. Miss USA (from California) ... Celtics (though w/o Shaq now) ... and even the freshly unrobed Tioga road ...
