Yosemite is for lovers...
October 27, 2011 09:05PM
Our younger daughter got married last weekend, and we were delighted that she and her new husband decided to spend their honeymoon in Yosemite. It was his first visit to the park, and he was enchanted---of course. And when we offered to take him backpacking the next time they came to visit, he accepted with alacrity. Now that's gonna be a fun trip.

Nice kid. Nice to have him in the family!

Just got married in the park this year. Hopefully I'll still be enjoying it 25 years (or more) from now.

Both at the same time, of course. Just hope that we will be fortunate enough to be in good health then to enjoy it (park & marriage).

My Yosemite wedding was in 1987. I have two siblings who held their ceremonies in the Chapel in Yosemite Valley. It's a great place for romance!

Got married there too. The best thing is that it is "mandatory" that we go back for our anniversary EVERY year!

I proposed to my wife in the Grand Canyon of the Tuolomne, up river a bit from Pate Valley. Old Dude and Chick-on were present. Chick-on has a photo somewhere. I wanted to propose at Benson but let's just say the conditions weren't right. The ring? I used the ringed cap of a MWR fuel bottle. Good times.

I have photographic evidence illustrating the awesomeness that is Table Lake. Mostly. As for Volunteer Peak, that was a blast. The scramble up was exciting and challenging. View - incredible, of course. I caught hell from the fiance-to-be (FTB) after we got back. This was on the way to Benson. Just before Benson, FTB slipped off log during water crossing. That was one mad cat. It took a couple of mostly pleasant days at Benson to calm things down. Old Dude, if you would care to post your pics, that would be great.

That is where I proposed to my (ex) wife.
