Thanks for the Inspirational message. I agree wholeheartedly.

Old and New Inspiration Points, right? I take it that the snow was no problem this weekend....

I could make up a story...

But not really an issue. YMMV

Did Old Badger Pass Rd to Inspiration Ridge (AWESOME) and Old Wawona Road (AWESOME). Slept at Old Insp. Pt.

What segment(s) of the Old Wawona Road did you hike?

What segment(s) of the Old Wawona Road did you hike?

From Inspiration Pt. past Fort Monroe to Grouse Creek.
(and then from Grouse Creek I hiked right on 41 back up to Chinquapin)

There have beens some reports of overgrown... but there was only 1 spot where had to crawl... and
another spot where had to bust thru some shrub. Other than that just dodging deadfall and/or
climbing over it. Fantastic views from there. Was not expecting it to be so nice.
And asphalt the entire way. Definitely will do it again... at least to the high point from Insp. Pt.

Thanks for the additional information on the road's condition.

How did you get to Old Inspiration Point? Via Meadow Brook Meadow, missing 3rd knob and the rest of the ridge, or some longer way?

Route was this. Start and end at Chinquapin.... counterclockwise. (and yeah, I hiked 41) (I will only hitch-hike if absolutely needed)

Very cool pic. Did you buy the marmot from the T. Meadows visitor center?

On 11/11 when we were in the valley we looked in all the shops for one...
They had a bunch of stuffed things like deer and pika and blue birds and coyotes...
not a single marmot... go figure... so plan to get a shot then was foiled... and
had to buy the marmot from Amazon. Worked out ok... since gave me another
excuse to get back out there... wink

You ought to write the gift shop a letter complaining about this grievous omission. Len and the rest of the marmot empire would have appreciated it. Marmot

The few times I've been there, most recently in 2010, the shop did have marmots. $15. Each time walking out of the store, I pet the stuffed display on the head.

Well the problem is that.... the store was long closed by 11/11/11...
believe me... we searched in the Valley... Curry Village, Valley Village, Vistor Center, and even at the store in Wawona... no luck...
Not a Marmot in sight... I took it as a sign that they were in mourning... sad smiley

Don't they hibernate this time of year?

Well... I'd like to think they were honoring their leader...

It's been pretty mild w/r to snow... so maybe they are running around with the Chickaree still..
Lots of tracks out there although only saw a few deer this last weekend.
No bear, but again, loads of tracks in the snow.
