By any chance, did you check out some of the lakes at the lower elevations along or near Tioga Road to see if they had frozen over? Specifically, I wondering about Siesta Lake and Lukens Lake.
I did not. Even though I got to Echo by 9:15am.. I took a lot of time skating there and also at Upper and Lower Cathedral.
And then... instead of just heading back the domes in that area called me... and I then nearly
skated at the ponds there too... Ended up back at the car at 5pm. Didn't time it quite right... wanted to be in TM to
get some nice sky shots.
Anyway... I can tell with absolute certainty that those lakes are frozen. Lukens is higher than Tenaya.. and is also within a valley-ish
and surrounded by trees which helps... Siesta... heck, that baby may be frozen SOLID. (I drove by to and fro when it was dark).
