I went on this 3-day trip a few weeks ago. We spent the first night at Pear Lake. A good sized lake nestled below Alta Peak.
It was a new moon, so the Milky way was clearly visible. If you want to see stars, plan your trip for a moonless sky.
A spectacular view is seen when cresting the final granite slab on the ascent to Moose lake. You see the lake below, looking like a giant bowl of water ready to spill over into the canyon beyond, and the great western divide in the distance. Another group had set up camp on the peninsula (they look like ants from the ridge high above).
The fish at Moose lake were very catchable (some taking the bait 5 seconds after casting), at Pear lake not so much.
Heavy rain started in the afternoon,
so we descended to Alta Meadow and spent the 2nd night there.
Moose loop was a fun 3-day trip ~18miles, the stretch from Pear lake to Alta meadow was cross country.
