Yosemite National Park is seeking amateur and professional writers to submit short stories that describe their memories and experiences at Yosemite National Park. One hundred and fifty of the stories will be chosen to be published in a commemorative book, intended to honor the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant in 2014. Short stories may range from haikus to up to 1,000 words. There is no fee to participate in the contest.

“One of my passions is hearing from park visitors how Yosemite has impacted their lives in a positive way. This book is a great way to record those experiences and recount how cherished and important the park is to past and present visitors,” said Don Neubacher, Yosemite National Park Superintendent.

The commemorative book will be published by the Yosemite Conservancy and will be sold as a fundraising item benefiting the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant.

“An anniversary as significant as this is an excellent time for us to reflect on how Yosemite has impacted us personally. We’re seeking stories that will reflect experiences and revive memories of those who have visited, lived in, and/or worked in Yosemite,” said Mike Tollefson, Yosemite Conservancy President.

Stories must be received by February 1, 2013 and may be submitted electronically at: http://bitly.com/Rmllig (preferred) or via mail to:
