...Wintry travel likely in the mountains later this weekend...

A storm system over the eastern pacific will move into the central
California interior late saturday night and sunday. The storm is
Likely to bring several inches of snow to elevations above 6000
Feet. Depending on its track...The storm has the potential to
Bring at least a small accumulation of snow at pass level in the
Kern county mountains as early as sunday morning.

Persons planning travel into the mountains saturday night and
Sunday should be prepared for winter driving conditions...Travel
Delays and possible road closures. Highways that may be impacted
Include interstate 5 over the grapevine and highway 58 through
Tehachapi pass.

...Winter weather advisory in effect from 10 pm this evening to
4 pm pst sunday above 4000 feet...

The national weather service in hanford has issued a winter
Weather advisory above 4000 feet for snow and gusty winds...Which
Is in effect from 10 pm this evening to 4 pm pst sunday for the
Kern county mountains and the higher elevations of the southern
Sierra nevada.

* snow accumulations: 2 to 4 inches at pass level and 4 to 8
Inches above 5000 feet.

* elevation: above 4000 feet.

* timing: snow will begin late this evening and continue overnight
Then taper off by sunday afternoon.

* locations include: tehachapi...Frazier park...Pine
Mountain...Lebec...Camp nelson...Giant forest...Johnsondale...
Lodgepole...Shaver lake...Yosemite valley

* winds: west 25 to 35 mph with local gusts up to 60 mph.

* impacts: high impact along the interstate 5 and highway 58
Corridors as well as on highway 41 between oakhurst and yosemite
National park. Travelers are encouraged to check road conditions
As this situation develops tonight and sunday.
