It was a long shot, but despite lots of local poultry--and pink--in Kauai, the trap was a failure, even using a locally-inspired fast-food treat (a McDonald's Haupia Pie--think apple pie with a coconut cream filling...). (Maybe chick-on got word that someone was going to buy the Hostess brand and resurrect Twinkies...?)


Kalalau Valley and Beach, Na Pali Coast State Park, Kauai

The local hiking was definitely a treat:

- Blue Hole - Wailua Back Wall
- Alakai Swamp - Kilohana - Pihea
- Nualolo - Awa'awapuhi Loop
- Intermission: The Birds of Kauai (coming soon)
- Na Pali Coast - Kalalau Valley
- Hanakapiai Falls

Would I trade the forest reserves and state parks of The Garden Island for Yosemite and the Sierra? Probably not. Would I go back? Definitely!

I guess you missed the news while you were in Hawaii, the chick-on now prefers the incredible deliciousness of Cloud Cakes!

You'll need to stock up on Cloud Cakes if you hope to ever capture the elusive chick-on!

I understand the delicacy of Hawaii to be Spam. My pictures on a different island to follow...
