Sweet! Yeah, we followed the creek a bit past here and saw lots of slabby granite goodness, but eventually hopped on the trail since we were running out of day and needed to scoot. Did you find any signs of the old trail?

No signs of a trail. No biggie. It was a great route.
Did see a bunny though. smiling smiley

Slept here 2nd night... after getting back on trail near Vog pass.. and then going over Parson Plateau:

Have fun ... that'll have to do for a TR

Bugs weren't too bad... none at Ireland... snow was pathetic... gonna be one heck of a dry summer

I was wondering about that... I was thinking maybe the memory card for that trip melted in the heat (along with all the snow in the High Sierra, it seems...) or was blown away by the helicopters :-(

So how cold were the mornings up there?

The bugs shouldn't have been too bad since the frosty nights should have killed most of them.

This past weekend I stayed at the Tuolumne Meadows CG. Early morning temps: Saturday: 34ºF, Sunday: 31ºF, Monday (a relatively mild) 43ºF.

Get an iPhone (or a Windows Phone). Creating a Photosynth is a lot faster with one of those phones (though not as high a resolution as the ones you do). wink

By the way, here's a link to the photosynth I took on top of Mount Watkins this past Saturday (June 17): Mount Watkins Photosynth (720º panorama)

Cockscomb-Matthes Gullies
(zoom in and look in the snow and you can see my feet prints)

Matthes Crest 20x
(zoom in and find the peeps)

Cath Peak 20x
(zoom in and find the peeps)

I had a feeling you were going to call me on that (not being on the very top of Mt. Watkins), but I liked the view better where I took my shot. tongue sticking out smiley

I know, that's one thing that I enjoy so much in viewing your photosynths — the incredible details one sees when one zooms into the image. It's just amazing.

And thanks for posting these, I did enjoy viewing them. smiling smiley

You can tell why most people rappel off Matthes after reaching the summit from the south... those three gendarmes on the right look quite a bit harder. That's what we did when we climbed it, if you rap after the south summit it's only 5.4-ish.

Cool view of Ireland... still haven't made it over there. Other than day trips to climb Cathedral & Matthes that whole area west of Vogelsang and east of Sunrise remains unexplored for me... gotta remedy that sometime soon.

The "problem" always is simply... you go and see for yourself... and you see so much to explore...
and the list doesn't get shorter... it just keeps getting longer...

Yep, already got the next two year's annual trips sort of planned. Of course, what I see this year will mess that all up. The list. The list. The list. My wife said, "I thought you told me you were not doing any more cross country trips to Yosemite because it was too expensive and you felt it would be money better spent on trips we could do together in the East?" Did I really once say that? Shoot me. The memory is the first to go. The list. The list. The list. It calls to me.Backpacker

Thanks for the link!

I've found how incredible and lifelike some of these 3D photos are, especially after you wait and let the Picasa website load up the the highest resolution photo for the maximum zoom (this doesn't happen initially when one clicks on the zoom button). Panning through at maximum zoom, photos like the 3D photo of Emeric Lake are simply astonishingly amazing in how lifelike they appear to be.

You did a really good job on these!
