Dr. Hugh Safford, Regional Ecologist for the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region, will present his research findings on “Climate Change, Forests and Fire in the Sierra Nevada: Implications for Resource Management.” The lecture is free and open to the public and will take place Thursday, September 5, at 8pm at the White Mountain Research Station in the Owens Valley Lab Dining Hall. Dr. Safford is associated with University of California, Davis, and will be traveling to Bishop with a group of graduate students to introduce them to research opportunities on forest lands. Dr. Safford has also been strongly involved in the use of climate change research in the Forest Service’s Forest Plan revision process.
