Re: Apple Picking Postponed

The Yosemite apple picking event that is due to take place in the park today July 30, has been postponed. The event will be rescheduled at a later day. An announcement will be made when more details are available.

I think it is because of the fire.

If they were ready to be picked on July 30th, probably a bit late now? Over-ripened by now? Although it seems a bit early in the season for apples.

They are picking them so bear will not be attracted to the orchards. From what I have heard, they are cooking apples and are a bit sour for us humans to eat off the tree.

Makes a lot of sense then...

Any further news out there about the apple picking? Postponed? Canceled?

I haven't seen anything about it recently. I wonder what the condition of the apples are and if there are enough left to need a picking this year.

It was canceled after the Yosemite black bears heard about the proposed apple picking and staged a pre-emptive raid on all the orchards before the apples could be picked by humans.
