Now that it is fall, what are your favorite places for fall color?

Here are some videos from previous years.

Walker Lake

June Lake

South Lake Bishop

Lake Sabria Bishop

Rock Creek

Hilton Lakes

Hope to make it up there soon.
This site has some pretty good updates:

The upper peninsula of Michigan. Specifically, Houghton & Keweenaw Counties. The Sierra Nevada has nothing that comes close to it.

Yeah, but we have Sierra views behind the leaves.

The Twin Lakes area out of Bridgeport is nice. This is Crown Point above Barney Lake

But I liked this place, that we found on the same trip, a little better (just inside the park, south of Ice Lake)

June Lake loop road between Grant Lake and Silver Lake. Lee Vining Canyon off 120 along the Poole power plant road. Rock Creek canyon. Mcgee Creek at the little parking lot on the west side of the pack station. Conway summit area. Lundy lake area from the store to the end of the rd. These are all roadside locations. Normally second to third week of Oct. is the best time to be there, but go a little earlier for the higher elevations. Lots of other little pockets of color up the canyons, all the way from Tom's place up to Twin Lakes out of Bridgeport. Area around Sherwin Creek campground is a nice place too.

Here's a website about current colors in the Eastern sierras. Click on the Fall Color Guide and map for some good info:

Reversed Creek mid October:

Yeah upper Bishop Creek areas are near peak now and other Eastern Sierra areas will be in the coming weeks. Am queued up to escape when weather conditions are favorable. Bearproof, quite excellent picture of a dense patch of dwarf bilberry, vaccinium caespitosum, well done! Of course most of the better locations with aspen groves have been in the Internet public domain for years and pounded by legions of photographers and workshops. Especially since most of those areas are roadside groves at mid elevations below even backpacking trailhead elevations. However there is quite are a lot more unknown spots below the public radar that I still rarely see others at. As the saying goes, out of sight...out of mind. Some insight on this trip feature from last year.

Dave: Did you happen to use a ladder on this shot? The perspective appears to be higher than normal. Love the shot!

Thanks for everybody sharing here. Saturday I'll be leaving for a trip up 395 and staying around June Lake. I made a fall colors trip last year when the park closure forced me to change my plans. I mostly visited from Bishop to Bodie and points between. The beauty and the colors were stunning. I've been looking forward to this year's trip since I got home last year.

That's what the hotel lady said two days ago when I booked. Glad to hear it wasn't just a sales pitch. :-) But a couple of web sites have also confirmed the same. I'm really looking forward. Also have another Yosemite trip planned Nov 2-5. Hoping to maybe catch some different colors around the valley.

Thanks! Especially liked the Convict Lake shot. Amazing colors and patterns in the rock set off by the tree colors. Sigh... lovely...

Sometimes you can find fall color right inside the valley.
