The moderately heavy smoke the park has been experiencing is smoke drift from 2 large fires burning to the south of Yosemite. One is the Rough Fire, which has consumed approximately 12,000 acres. The other fire is the Cabin Fire, at over 6,000 acres.

Upper Falls: As of 6:00 PM last night (8/13/15), all trail closures associated with this fire have been lifted. The Upper Fire is 3.85 acres, and is in mop up phase.

Cathedral: Approximately 6.0 acres, with smoldering and creeping behavior. All trails are open. Fire crews may be visible along the trails monitoring the fire behavior.

Dark: This fire is at 41.5 acres and continues to burn down within the perimeter of the fire. Light smoke has been periodically visible.

Middle: This lightning caused fire continues to smolder. It is at 2.1 acres and is being monitored.
