We saw the mobile T-Mobile tower (the "COW" ) a few weeks ago at the Sentinel Dome telecom facility, but it didn't appear to be deployed. I'm assuming that the fiber they are running to this site would be via Staircase Falls/the former Ledge Trail...?

What fiber optic? Wouldn't they use a microwave link?

Yes, but they need to get from the link to the cell site.

From the project link:
"To extend fiber optic cable to this site, a trench 85 feet long, 24 inches wide, and 36 inches deep will be dug from the south side of the electrical substation to the existing communications conduit recently built under the park communication data network project."[Emphasis added]

I think there is some confusion between the two sites as well. The valley site would be connected by fiber (then to the microwave) whereas the Sentinel site is persumably connected directly to the microwave link.
