The Arch Rock entrance on Hwy 140 is planning to perform another trial run of the new traffic pattern this Saturday and Sunday (3/26-3/27). It will consist of using the outbound lane closest to the kiosk as an additional inbound lane. The Arch Rock staff is hoping to decrease wait time for all incoming traffic and potentially utilize this new method during peak hours in the summer. Here are the primary changes to be aware of if you are entering or exiting through this entrance on Saturday:

Employees: There will be a ranger walking down the line of incoming vehicles that will direct you to the regular employee lane. Please continue to stop at the stop sign and drive especially slowly after the stop sign as there will now be a third lane merging into traffic.

All: We would appreciate if you could note the number of minutes that it took you to get through the line from start to finish and submit this information in the survey below. Please help us have a smooth test run by driving especially slowly and cautiously when approaching the entrance from either direction and practicing some good situational awareness.

This test will occur between the hours of 9:00 and 13:00, depending on weather, emergencies, and traffic. Your cooperation in this endeavor is appreciated. Please provide feedback at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2HYBPM7.

We left the park via Arch Rock yesterday, Mar. 28. We pulled out of Upper Pines at 11:05am, and when we got to the entrance my guess is the line was at least 1/2 mile long of cars/trucks/buses/RVs coming in. The line just kept going and going. My grandson kept taking picture after picture of the backup. And there was a ranger working the line (I have seen that in the past on busy days), but there was no indication of anyone using the outgoing lane for incoming (as I drove right up to the kiosk to show my senior card.) That sure should be a big help when they start that process!!!
