SONORA, California, July 28, 2016 – The U.S. Forest Service, Stanislaus National Forest (STF) is hosting interpretive events to highlight and celebrate Wilderness Week, this Wednesday through Saturday. Events will be held at the Lake Alpine, Marmot Day-Use Area Amphitheater on the Calaveras Ranger District. Visitors will learn forest stewardship through a variety of family fun activities. Check attached document for more detailed information.

Wilderness Week will end with a special event Saturday, 7 to 8 p.m., where the public can meet STF wilderness specialists and learn “Leave No Trace” and “Leave No Trace for Stock Users” concepts from the experts! Featured presenters include: the Stanislaus Wilderness Rangers, California Conservation Corps Back Country Trails Program and Stanislaus Wilderness Volunteers. Educational material from the Back Country Horsemen of America, Mid Valley Unit (unable to attend) will also be available.

Interpretive programs are sponsored by Three Forests Interpretive Association (3 FIA) and the Stanislaus National Forest.
