Tioga Road is closed

Incoming Storm Expected to Drop a Significant Amount of Snow in the Park’s Higher Elevations

Current winter storm activity has created hazardous driving conditions along Tioga Road. Yosemite National Park has closed Tioga Road from from Crane Flat to Lee Vining. This closure will be in place until further notice.

Don't expect it to open until late spring.

Why not? Sonora is open and we've had warm weather all week.

I heard they are scraping ice off the road, but it's not just snow or ice on the road, Tioga has avalanche zones that Sonora does not. If there is any kind of avalanche danger they are not going to send anyone out to plow anywhere near that zone.

It appears spring came real early this year. They just opened up TIoga Pass.

I'm not surprised. The snow was melting fast all week and there wasn't all that much in the first place.
