...Rare freezing rain event possible wednesday night and thursday
Morning...

An area of low pressure will bring cold air into the region tonight
And wednesday as an atmospheric river approaches northern
California. By wednesday night and thursday the clash of cold air
Trapped in valleys along with warming above 5500 to 6000 feet from
The atmospheric river could lead to a short period of freezing
Rain late wednesday night and thursday morning.

If freezing rain occurs, a light coating of black ice could create
Very difficult travel conditions across portions of the eastern
Sierra and western nevada thursday morning. A light coating of ice
May also accumulate on sidewalks, tree limbs and powerlines.

Freezing rain can be easily mistaken for rain, as the rain may not
Freeze until it contacts a cold surface. Those with travel plans
Are urged to maintain an increased awareness while driving
Wednesday night and thursday morning.
