...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TO 8 PM PDT THURSDAY...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 8 AM to 8 PM PDT Thursday. The
High Wind Watch is no longer in effect.
* Timing: Winds will increase Thursday morning with the
strongest winds expected with the passage of a strong cold
front by early afternoon.
* Winds: West 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph shifting
northwest by early afternoon behind the front.
* Impacts: Crosswinds may result in travel impacts for high
profile vehicles and areas of wind shear for aviation.
Choppy waters can be expected on area lakes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Now is the time secure loose outdoor items such as patio
furniture and trash cans before winds increase which could blow
these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by
making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights
with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power
outage.
